Don't Let Tennis Elbow Put You On The Sidelines

If you suffer from an elbow injury, you know how frustrating and painful it can be. Everyday tasks become difficult, and you’re unable to participate in your favorite activities. Most often, this pain is due to inflammation of the tendons that attach the forearm muscles to the bone. This condition is known as tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis.

What Are the Symptoms?

Tennis elbow is a very common condition, and may be caused by repetitive motions of the arm and wrist, such as typing, and those often used in tennis, hence the name. The condition is usually seen in adults between the ages of 40 and 60, and is more common in men than women.

Symptoms include pain and tenderness on the outside of the elbow, weakness in the forearm, and a burning or tingling sensation in the arm. The pain may radiate from the elbow down to the hand and fingers, and in some cases, may affect neck and upper back conditions.

How Does Chiropractic Help?

Chiropractic care is an effective and natural treatment option for lateral epicondylitis. Our doctor uses manual manipulation to improve range of motion in the affected arm and correct any misalignments.

We also use adjunct therapies, such as cold laser, electrical stimulation and ultrasound, to reduce inflammation, pain, and swelling, and generate new tissue to speed the healing process.

Cold laser therapy uses light energy that’s designed to penetrate deep into the problem area without causing any pain. Unlike “hot” lasers, cold lasers don’t burn or damage tissue, they help regenerate tissue. In fact, most patients find the therapy relaxing, and it only takes a short time to complete.

How Long Before I See Results?

Some people feel better in just 4-6 visits, while others with chronic injuries may take longer to heal. We typically recommend 12 visits before we evaluate your progress and see if anything needs to be tweaked. Cold laser therapy is so gentle, you can have a session every day if you’d like!
